Which golf courses can you play in Tangier?
Royal Golf de Tanger
The city’s historic club and the course our Tangier city-hotel packages are built around. It is closed on Mondays and a caddy is compulsory, so we schedule your rounds around both. Playing it puts you in the middle of Tangier’s golfing history, a short private transfer from the city hotels.
Al Houara Golf Club
An 18-hole course on the Atlantic coast south of the city, attached to the Hilton Tangier Al Houara Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort. Staying at the Hilton means every round is played on site, with no driving between hotel and tee. If you stay in the city instead, we can add rounds at Al Houara with private golf transfers.
Royal Golf de Cabo Negro (near Tetouan)
On the Mediterranean side, beneath the Rif mountains, Cabo Negro is the course for golfers staying on Tamuda Bay. It turns a Tangier break into a two-centre northern Morocco trip. See our Tetouan guide.

How do you get to Tangier for a golf holiday?
Tangier is one of the easiest Moroccan cities to reach from Europe. Fly into Tangier airport, or take the ferry across the Strait of Gibraltar to the Tanger Med port, which suits golfers driving down through Spain. Tangier also has a train station on Morocco’s rail network, so Rabat and Casablanca can be reached by rail. We arrange the private transfer whichever way you arrive.
When is the best time to play golf in Tangier?
Spring and autumn are ideal. Northern Morocco is cooler and greener than Marrakech, which makes Tangier comfortable through the warmer months too. In winter it is cooler and wetter than the south. If you want guaranteed winter sun, choose Agadir or Marrakech. Our month-by-month guide compares the regions.
Is there a golf tournament in Tangier?
Yes. The Tangier International Golf Festival is an amateur tournament week open to golfers of every level, with men’s, ladies’ and seniors’ categories. The programme includes nights in a 5-star hotel, a visit of Tangier, three rounds of competition golf, a nine-hole night golf competition and a gala dinner. Dates and the downloadable programme are on our tournament weeks page.
What is there to do in Tangier off the course?
Tangier has a literary, cosmopolitan past that still shows in its kasbah, medina and cafés. Days off can include the kasbah and old town, the views from Cap Spartel where the two seas meet, and the Hercules Caves on the Atlantic coast. Tetouan’s white medina and the Mediterranean beaches of Tamuda Bay are within reach for a day trip.
Tell us your dates and we will build a Tangier golf break, or combine it with Rabat and Fez on a Morocco golf tour.
